A criminal case has been initiated against the ataman of the “Stanichny Cossack Society”

In September 2016 it became it is known that in the city of Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region, a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred) against Ataman of the Stanitsa Cossack Society Pavel Turukhin.

The case came to light in connection with search, which took place on September 30 in the house of the publisher of Alternativnaya Gazeta Sergiev Posad Andrey Trofimov.

About the reason for the visit law enforcement officers, the journalist learned from the decision, which stated that the search is carried out within the framework of the criminal case under Article 282 of the Criminal Code against P. Turukhin.

According to A. Trofimov, he did not it is very clear why the law enforcement officers came to him with a search in connection with this business and why was it carried out so harshly.

As he said: “ I am in 2014 made a report from a rally at which Turukhin and his people shout about fascism, death. I wrote that this is extremist in nature, and law enforcement officers do nothing. As far as one can judge, we are talking about the religious procession, which P. Turukhin and his supporters held on October 8, 2014. During his speech at the action, P. Turukhin and another speaker made several anti-Semitic statements, and the audience raised their hands in a Nazi salute (for more details about the action, see here ) . Based on what A. Trofimov said, it can be assumed that the ataman case was initiated in connection with this particular action.

Recall that this is not the first time P. Turukhin has become a defendant in a criminal case.

In 2007 against him, and also assistant to the ataman of the Sergiev-Posad Cossack society Alexander Andreev and the Cossacks of the Sergiev Posad village of A. Mukhamedgariev and E. Tupikin a criminal case was initiated on the fact of publication and dissemination of the appeal Ataman Dutov containing anti-Semitic appeals. It was published in the 17th issue of the Bulletin “Herald of the Warriors of Christ. Sergiev Posad" in May 2006. Later, another issue of the bulletin, the editor-in-chief of which was A. Andreev, was recognized as extremist .

Suspects, depending on the video of each, incitement to national hatred was charged (paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) and creation of an extremist community (Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). In December, the court first withdrew from suspected charges under Art. 282.1 of the Criminal Code for lack of corpus delicti, and then, due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, the case under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code.
