Right-wing radical received a warning for wanting to rename Kaliningrad to Koenigsberg

At the end of September 2016, Alexander Orshulevich, leader of the Baltic Vanguard of Russian Resistance (BARS), received a warning against violating the law.

On September 30, 2016, the leader of the Baltic Vanguard of Russian Resistance (BARS) organization, Alexander Orshulevich, announced on his social network page that he had received a warning from the prosecutor's office of the Bagrationovsky district of the Kaliningrad region about the inadmissibility of violating the law.

From the text of the warning, it follows that the attention of the prosecutor's office was attracted by the plot of the Rossiya 1 TV channel with Orshulevich's comments on the initiative of his organization dedicated to renaming Kaliningrad to Koenigsberg. The deputy prosecutor of the district warned Orshulevich about the inadmissibility of violating anti-extremist legislation and drew his attention to the criminal liability for calls to violate the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, provided for by Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code.

The report includes statements by Orshulevich that the culture of Prussia, the remains of which can be observed in Kaliningrad, is " incomparably higher " than modern Russian culture. However, there are no calls for the separation of the Kaliningrad region from Russia in the words of Orshulevich, and the idea of ​​renaming the city in itself has nothing to do with the composition of Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code. In addition, from our point of view, persecution deserves only calls for violent separatism.

In 2013, Orshulevich was sentenced to a fine under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activity) for publishing anti-Semitic pictures on the VKontakte social network, and in 2011 it was reported about his possible involvement in the desecration of the monument to the "Victims of the Death March near Koenigsberg. 1945".
