The demolition of "memorials" continues

The Ministry of Justice decided to include the international historical, educational, charitable and human rights society "Memorial" in the Register of Foreign Agents. This was reported on the NGO website.

"We consider this decision to be unlawful and will appeal and dispute it in the courts," the international memorial statement said.

On September 5, the Ministry of Justice, on behalf of the Prosecutor General’s Office, began an unscheduled audit of the International Memorial . Its goal was to "identify the presence (absence) of signs of the organization as a non -profit organization performing the functions of a foreign agent."

At the request of the Ministry of Justice, the company provided documents for four years for verification: protocols, work reports, publications lists, financial and bank statements. The total volume of issued documentation was 31,250 sheets.

Currently, the inagent list contains the Memorial human rights center, the Interregional Public Organization "Information and Educational Center" Memorial ", regional societies" Memorial "of the Republic of Komi, Ryazan Region, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.

On October 10, 2014, it became known that the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court on the liquidation of the Memorial company . The reason was the inconsistencies found in the authorized documents of the current legislation.

On November 22, 2014 , at the conference of the company, new charters of the international and Russian Memorial were adopted . The documents were supplemented by the provisions without which the Ministry of Justice demanded the liquidation of NGOs. On December 12, the NPO submitted documents to the Ministry of Justice on a change in the charter of the company. However, the ministry did not manage to conduct a full legal examination on them to a meeting of the Armed Forces on December 17. At the request of the Memorial, supported by the Ministry of Justice, the meeting was again postponed .

On January 28, 2015, the Supreme Court defended the lawyer’s claim for the liquidation of the Memorial, since the company completely eliminated the violations of the law in its activities.
