The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Poland Yaroslav Govin said that mass protests against the law on the complete ban on abortion affected the position of the country's authorities on this issue. About this writes Associated Press with reference to the words of the minister.
“There will be no complete ban on abortion,” the minister said. According to him, the demonstrations against this bill forced the Polish authorities to listen to the opinion of the people.
We will remind, earlier thousands of people took to the streets of the Polish cities in protest against the bill on the complete ban on abortion, which is under consideration in the country's parliament.
At the moment, abortions are allowed in Poland only in exceptional cases - with serious malformations of the fetus, the presence of a threat to the life of the mother or pregnancy as a result of rape.
If the new law would receive approval in parliament, abortion would be completely banned throughout the country, and violators would face criminal liability with a sentence in the form of a five -year prison term.
