In the Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg, police disrupted a worship service of Jehovah's Witnesses and detained 14 people.
On October 11, 2016, police disrupted a church service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Kalininsky District of St. Petersburg. After services, police interrogated members of the community, including minor children, rewrote passport data, confiscated telephones and tablets, all men and some women were taken to the police station (about 14 people were detained).

Believers told reporters they had no idea reasons for the check and have not seen any documents justifying the actions police officers.

According to the press service of the Administrative Center of the Witnesses Jehovah, not only electronic devices were confiscated, but also Bibles. The police officers searched the premises (even cracked the ceiling), having previously sealed the surveillance cameras with adhesive tape. All the while believers were kept indoors, they were forbidden to make phone calls.
