The Russian Orthodox Church called on St. Petersburg residents not to celebrate Halloween

Representative of the St. Petersburg Metropolis on the air urged not to celebrate Halloween, because the day of the holiday falls anniversary of the plane crash.  

On October 27, 2016, the St. Petersburg Metropolis called on residents cities do not celebrate Halloween: in addition to the fact that the holiday has pagan roots and is not associated with Russian traditions, it coincides with the anniversary of the plane crash - On October 31, 2015, a plane crashed from Sharm el-Sheikh to Petersburg.

“Probably, it is worth not only thinking about feelings, but also show basic human solidarity. Will be right on the anniversary of this tragic event not to indulge in reckless fun in an incomprehensible holiday, but to commemorate the dead and support those who have lost those dear to his heart people ," the head of the communications sector of the St. Petersburg Metropolia Natalya Rodomanova.
