Historical memory becomes the object of “targeted destructive actions by foreign state structures and international organizations implementing geopolitical interests in the mainstream of anti -Russian policy”. According to Kommersant, this conclusion was reached by experts of the Scientific Council of Security during a discussion of preparation for the 100th anniversary of the 1917 revolution. According to members of the Security Council, it is necessary to develop forms of preventive work and operational response to attempts to falsify history.
Experts have determined the six main most significant historical events and periods, subject to falsification and needing protection. This is the national policy of the Russian Empire, the national policy of the USSR, the role of the USSR in the victory over fascism in the Second World War, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the USSR and political crises in the GDR, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and other former social stations.
As the main threats, the participants in the meeting called the conduct of information campaigns, the historical illiteracy of youth, the disappearance of historical popular science books as an independent literary genre.
The meeting participants recommended SB to pursue a coordinated information policy, to create, develop and implement mechanisms for identifying the signs of information campaigns aimed at distorting history in the media and to involve the member state of the organized security agreement to joint events.
