Microsoft said that the Hacker group Strontium, which also acts under the pseudonymers of Fancy BEARS and APT 28, made a series of attacks, taking advantage of the vulnerability of the Windows operating system. It is reported by Reuters.
According to the company representative, hackers used targeted phishing letters. Microsoft does not specify which persons and organizations suffered as a result of these actions. It is only noted that a small number of attacks have been committed.
A special software addition has already been developed to protect Windows users. Updates will be released on November 8.
The Fancy Bear group, also known as Sednit, Apt28, Tsar Team, Sofacy and Pawn Storm, is allegedly related to GRU. Among the most famous attacks of hackers are hacks of the servers of the German Bundestag, the French television channel TV5 and the National Committee of the Democratic Party of the United States.
