Prisoners of correctional colony No. 7 in Karelian Segezha, who staged a protest during the visit of a commission of members of the Human Rights Council, were transferred to colony No. 1 and placed in a punishment cell. The wife of IK-7 prisoner Ildar Dadin, Anastasia Zotova, reported this in an interview with Mediazona.
On November 9, HRC member Pavel Chikov said that during a visit to the colony, one of the prisoners told him about the action of eight convicts from the third detachment of a high-security station. They climbed onto the roof of the barracks with a banner “People, help.” One of the convicts was named Anton Indeikin. After this, it was reported that Indeikin and the others were taken to IK-1, which is located 30 kilometers from Segezha.
According to Zotova, lawyer Natalya Vasilkova, who represents Dadin’s interests, went to IK-1 today. She found Indeikin there and talked to him. “He said that six people actually climbed onto the roof with a poster to attract the attention of the press, because they heard that human rights activists were coming,” lawyer Zotova reported. “After that, they were taken to IK-1 and placed in a punishment cell for “mass riots.” It is known that these are all people from the third detachment, and in principle they did not complain about torture, they simply said that they were sitting in a punishment cell. The names of all these people are not yet known; Indeikin himself did not know everyone.”
Vasilkova also said that she tried to get to Ildar Dadin himself this morning, but she was refused. According to the colony staff, investigative actions are being carried out, “but they are not interrogating Ildar, but other prisoners, witnesses to torture.”
On November 8-9, HRC members Pavel Chikov and Igor Kalyapin met with prisoners of IK-7 who complained about the actions of the administration. First, they met with Ildar Dadin, who confirmed the reports of torture and beatings contained in the letter.
“Mediazona” published monologues of relatives of prisoners and former convicts who served their sentences in IK-7. Chikov spoke about the inspection of IK-7 and the main points of the report to the head of the Human Rights Council.
