Igor Stenin was transferred to a general regime colony

Astrakhan nationalist, convicted under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code, toughened the punishment.

On November 28, 2016, the Kirsanovsky District Court of the Tambov Region decided to toughen the punishment of the Astrakhan nationalist Igor Stenin, convicted under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the implementation of extremist activities via the Internet). He was transferred from a colony-settlement to a general regime colony due to violations of discipline.

The leader of the Russian Astrakhan movement, Stenin, was sentenced to two years in a colony-settlement on May 16, 2016. He was found guilty of posting on the social network VKontakte under the pseudonym "Ingvar Stefan" an entry on the topic of the war in Ukraine; he was also charged with the comment of another user, which the investigation mistakenly took for a repost. In July, the regional court upheld the verdict. The human rights center "Memorial" recognized Stenin as being persecuted for political reasons.
