Historian: the new doctrine of information security will allow the FSB to close the archives
Vladimir Putin approved the new doctrine of information security of Russia. In addition to the fact that the document provides for the opposition of countries “increasing the information impact on Russia”, protecting youth from erosion of spiritual and moral values and “development of the national management system of the Russian segment of the Internet”, it contains a point on “neutralization of information psychological impact aimed at the separation of historical foundations and patriotic traditions related to the protection of the Fatherland”. Historian, senior teacher of the Higher School of Economics, Irina Roldugina, told The Insider about what this situation threatens scientists and specialists who have an alternative view of the country's history:
“I find this initiative very harmful and dangerous, but on the other hand, it has already been prepared by the general policy of the authorities, in one form or another insisting that myths are more important than facts, and political expediency is more important than expert knowledge.
What bothers me more is the possibility of an even more closed operation of departmental archives (for example, FSB archives), which are still quite impermeable for professional historians, but such “doctrines” affect them primarily. ”
Meanwhile, earlier, Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said he did not see a threat to scientists in this doctrine. “On the contrary, historical research, work in archives is a work that is attached to great importance,” he said. At the same time, he added that "at the same time, it is impossible to deny that we are faced with actions and, one might say, with a focused line, which are aimed at the perversion of historical facts, distorting, manipulations with historical facts in order to exert ideological pressure on Russia."
“This is not a secret, this must be opposed. But this does not exclude, of course, research pluralism, and cannot exclude, ”concluded Peskov.
