Boris Mironov fined for public calls for extremism

On December 22, 2016, a court in Moscow fined the former head of the Russian Press Committee , author of anti-Semitic writings, Boris Mironov, 100,000 rubles, finding him guilty of inciting extremism.

On December 22, 2016, the Basmanny Court of Moscow fined the former head of Rospechat, Boris Mironov, 100 thousand rubles, finding him guilty of inciting extremism. The court found Mironov guilty under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activities).

During the debate of the parties, the state prosecution asked for a fine of 150 thousand rubles. Mironov pleaded not guilty and insisted on an acquittal.

The reason for initiating a criminal case was B. Mironov's book "The Battle with the Jewish Yoke", which was published by the Algorithm publishing house with a circulation of about 2 thousand copies. As a linguistic examination established, Mironov's manuscript contains "a call for an armed uprising, discriminatory actions against Jews and the commission of violent actions against them." We are talking about collections of articles by Boris Mironov in 2007-2008, recognized by the courts as extremist materials.

The defense stated that it plans to appeal the court's decision: " The charge is based on the denunciation of a witness, and the experts only confirmed this. We could not find out who these experts were, no one else took the book. We will appeal this decision. "

On June 20, 2017, the Moscow City Court upheld the sentence against Boris Mironov. The court rejected Mironov's appeal and upheld the verdict of the Basmanny District Court. The verdict came into force.

This criminal case against Boris Mironov is not the first. In 2008, he was guilty in a case found initiated in 2004 under paragraph “b” of Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting national hatred with the use of his official position) for anti-Semitic materials that were distributed in the region in 2003, when Mironov ran for governor of the Novosibirsk region.
