For more than a month, close to the opposition activist Ildar Dadin do not know his whereabouts. Dadin, convicted of 2.5 years, was laid from a correctional institution in Segezh in an unknown direction in early December. Human rights activists turned to the Federal Service for the Penitentiary Service with a demand to report where the activist is located.
A letter to the FSIN on January 2 was sent by the editor -in -chief of Echo of Moscow Alexei Venediktov and the head of the public movement "For Human Rights" Leo Ponomarev. They ask the FSIN "immediately report" about the location of Ildar Dadin. Lev Ponomarev emphasizes that loved ones Dadina "are afraid for his life and health", since he betrayed public information about torture in colony 7 in Segezh.
Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Boris Vishnevsky also sent an appeal to the FSIN with a request to report the fate of the convicted activist:
On social networks, a flash mob turned in support of Ildar Dadin. Facebook and Twitter users publish posts with the hashtag #whereterdadin. This hashtag went into trends in the Russian -speaking segment of Twitter.
The wife of the opposition activist Anastasia Zotova daily in her social networks considers the number of days during which there is no information about the fate of her husband. The last time Dadin got in touch with his wife in early December. In a letter , he said that he was in a shipping center in Vologda and told more about how he was transferred from a colony in Segezh:
"Now the evening on December 04, 2016 (Sunday). I am again in the FCU of the pre-trial detention center-2 cities of Vologda. I was brought here today before dinner. Today at 12 nights, I’ll go further. [...] I was taken out of IK-7 almost immediately after giving out dinner on Friday (12/02/2016). Apparently, specially, so that I could not gather normally and present it for numerous violations, even when I was leaving, they told me even when I was leaving, they told me Gather 30-45 minutes before the actual departure. "
On December 20, information appeared that Dadina was brought to one of the colonies in the Altai Territory, but it was not confirmed . The European Court of Human Rights ordered Russia until January 9 to inform where the opposition activist is located.
“In my opinion, this passes all the rules that have already existed before where the person is reflected,” says Leo Ponomarev, the leader of the human rights movement. - Previously, there were also such problems, I don’t remember how much we were told, for example, about Khodorkovsky and others, but to wait a month, this has never happened. This is just a blatant trick in front of society. After all, there is no problem - to tell us where he is. I'm already starting to worry, his mother and his wife are worried.
There is no person for a month! Well, let's know what's with him. What, we already have such a hard totalitarian regime?
The leadership of the FSIN communicates with us. On the 30th, I called them and asked where Dadin, and the head of the FSIN told me: "Lev Aleksandrovich, believe me, I myself do not know." This is some kind of indecent game. That is, on the one hand, I need to communicate with the leadership of the FSIN, I protect people, and I know that they react quite quickly in some individual cases, but in some cases they do not consider it necessary to say some obvious things. There is no person for a month! Well, let us know what to know him, to relatives. If there is some kind of secrecy, call mom and give me the opportunity to talk to your son. What, we already have such a hard totalitarian regime? Then there is no need to negotiate with me that they are investigating torture and so on. All this looks very vile!
Lev Ponomarev
-Do you think they have already brought him somewhere and not reported?
-Is it possible to take a person for a month in modern conditions? It looks wild. He wrote a letter from Vologda, the letter came by mail why they did not let him call on the way or write a letter. I don't understand what is happening. Some vile mystery that makes loved ones worry.
- It could be a pressure on Dadin for talking about torture in the Segezh colony?
- Including. But what to put pressure on him? He told the truth. So that he refuses his words and says: "I staged all this?" This is already pointless. We, human rights activists, are densely engaged in torture in the Karelian colonies, and we already have at least two dozen lawyer polls of people who have suffered from torture. What, they also make them abandon their words? I don’t know, maybe they have some kind of stupid plan.
On the 30th, I called them and asked where Dadin, and the head of the FSIN told me: "Lev Aleksandrovich, believe me, I myself do not know"
- Maybe this is such revenge?
- Don't know. Nevertheless, the request to be transferred from the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova. Dadin himself did not want, by the way, he said: “I will leave, but here there will be other people who are torture,” he behaved in a vibrant. Moskalkova then talked with her wife Dadina, spoke to me, and we said that, probably, this is right to be treated. Because there was a very large resonance, and revenge was quite predictable, because it was in Karelia that completely torture conditions for people were created. A concentration camp is a tough name for this, although quite applicable. When people think over the system of beatings, and it is used for years, so that there are no traces left ... They have the main way of mockery of people - to plant men on a twine and tear the ligaments. They also try to cold, there are many sophisticated methods. But at the same time, so that there are no bruises. All this will be investigated, I'm sure.
-The ECHR ordered Russia until the 9th to report the whereabouts of Ildar Dadin. You and Alexey Venediktov sent a letter to the FSIN. Can this somehow influence? Or is there nothing to wait until the end of the official weekend in Russia?
- Well, there is a slogan: do it as it should, and what happens. We do what we should do, but you should not guess.
Ildar Dadin during one of the pickets
- Why exactly Ildar Dadin became the only convict under this article - about a violation of the procedure for holding public events - and why is he not left alone even now?
- This is an interesting question. Why was this article applied to him first? There were several candidates, and by the way, they still remain, but fate fell on Dadin. Dadin is a noticeable person, we somehow sat together in the IVS. He annoys the police and any security forces that he is a calm person never yells, but requires strict observance of the law. When the policeman approaches him, begins to grab the scruff of the scruff, he begins to rest his feet on the ground and demand that he introduces himself. And at every step, he demands that everything be according to the law. We know how the police take it: grab, throw it, and so on. In the police station, he demanded that each police officer ask him why there was no token. Psychologically, he affects every policeman, a security forces who violates the law. And someone in the Dadin situation, for example, simply does not want to contact. This also applies to me, by the way: four policemen dragged me, I relax and do not waste time on what, perhaps, I had to do it. But he is such a person. And somehow the stars came together on it.
He annoys the police and any security forces that he is a calm person never yells, but requires strict observance of the law
Further - his behavior in the colony. I was not there, I don’t know exactly how everything happened to him there, but when he wrote these letters, he was already a famous person among activists in Moscow. I have been investigating torture for 15 years, and the Karelian colonies, perhaps the most unpleasant and terrible, but not the only ones. Ten to twenty torture colonies specially exist in the system of execution of punishments. They are taken there to the "breaking" of thieves in law, terrorists. Such zones are needed by this system, although the leadership of the system with which I discuss these problems says: "No, this is not necessary, we want to eradicate it." I have been talking about this for a long time, and not only me, but also other human rights activists, but this all passes past society, people have not particularly reacted to our statements. But when Ildar Dadin wrote a letter, this blew up the Moscow community, people began to go into pickets, write about it. He was a noticeable person, and he was trusted in the urban environment, so they believed everything that he wrote. Pickets are held near the FSIN with a demand to stop torture, and not only in connection with Ildar Dadin, but also in the Karelian colonies, ”says Lev Ponomarev.
Promotion in St. Petersburg in support of Ildar Dadin
In November 2016, Ildar Dadin passed a letter through a lawyer in which he said that he was beaten and threatened with murder in colony No. 7 in Segezh, as well as systematic torture in relation to the rest of the prisoners in this correctional institution. Then the Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova and a group of human rights activists from the Presidential Council for Human Rights and the development of civil society went to the colony. Members of the Council, who interviewed other prisoners, came to the conclusion that the information about the violence, which Ildar Dadin betrayed, "found confirmation." However, the Karelia Investigative Committee refused to institute criminal proceedings, concluding that the use of force against the convicted activist was within the framework of the law, and the deputy chief of the FSIN Valery Maksimenko called Dadin "a very talented imitator."
34-year-old civil activist Ildar Dadin is the only person in Russia convicted under the article on "repeated violation of the rules of public events." In December 2015, the court sentenced him to 3 years in a general regime colony for several pickets conducted in support of the "Prisoners of Bolotnaya" and Nadezhda Savchenko. In the spring of 2016, the court of second instance reduced a term of to two and a half years. On January 24, 2017, the Constitutional Court of Russia will consider the activist’s complaint about Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation , according to which he was convicted. Supporters of Ildar Dadin are sure that his detention on the pickets, who served as the basis for the criminal case, were illegal. The human rights center "Memorial" recognized Ildar Dadin to the political prisoner, and the "International Amnesty" - "a prisoner of conscience." The opposition activist should be released in July 2017.
