Residents of Rostov-on-Don again protest against the construction of an Orthodox church in the park

A protest action took place in the Chukovsky Park in Rostov-on-Don. Local residents oppose the construction of an Orthodox church in the park area.

On January 14, 2017, another protest took place in Rostov-on-Don against the construction of an Orthodox church in the Chukovsky park.

Residents of the city are not so much against the construction of the temple as against the development of the park.

On January 17, 2017, it became known that an employee of the Department of Property and Land Relations of Rostov-on-Don told reporters that the construction of the temple was canceled in September 2016 due to the protests of the townspeople.

On January 24, 2017, the governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, announced to the townspeople that " non-core facilities in the park zone will not be built ."

Recall that the protests began in the summer of 2016. In parallel with them, signatures are being collected on the Internet - a petition against the construction of the temple has already been signed by more than a thousand people.
