In Chelyabinsk, a criminal case was opened for anti-Muslim social media pictures.

In January 2017, a criminal case was initiated in Chelyabinsk under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity). According to the case file, from 2013 to 2015, a resident of Chelyabinsk published in free access on his page on the social network pictures, " degrading and inciting hatred on national and religious sign ". In particular, a ram was drawn on the avatar, which holds a human head in one hoof southern appearance, and in the other - a knife ". The picture was published during the celebration of Eid al-Adha.
