The sentence of Evgeniy Kort was changed

The Moscow City Court changed the sentence to a twenty-year-old resident of Zelenograd from a year in a colony-settlement to a fine.

January 16 2017 Moscow City Court changed the verdict Zelenogradsky District Court regarding Evgeny Kort, convicted November 3, 2016 under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred). The punishment has been changed since the year deprivation of liberty in a colony-settlement on a fine of 200 thousand rubles. The defense intends to appeal decision of the Moscow City Court.

Recall Cort accused of posting on social media "VKontakte" collage with a nationalist Maxim Martsinkevich (Tesak) and a man who looks like the poet Alexander Pushkin. In the picture, Tesak presses Pushkin to the wall, accompanying it comment with xenophobic insult. During the investigation, it was found that the image contains "collection psychological and linguistic signs of humiliation of non-Russians".

Defendant claimed not to have published the image, and accidentally saved it to an album on your social media page. Prosecutor asked to sentence Kort to two years imprisonment, the lawyer asked to justify his.

We we believe that even if Kort sympathizes with Nazi ideology, as follows from the content of his social network account, the publication of one image was not a sufficient basis for bringing him to criminal responsibility, and even more so excessive there was an appointment of a real term for this act.
