Mark Galperin detained in Moscow

On February 7, 2017, social activist Mark Galperin was detained in Moscow.

On February 7, 2017, PARNAS activist Mark Galperin was detained in Moscow. On his page on the social network Facebook, he reported that unknown people rang his doorbell, but did not introduce themselves, and then began to open the lock. The activist tried to escape from the police and jumped from the second floor, but was detained. As a result, he reported that he was in a paddy wagon. The attempt to avoid arrest was not in vain, and an administrative case was initiated against him under Art. 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to a lawful order of a police officer). The activist received 10 days of administrative arrest.

Initially, it was reported that the reason for the detention was the initiation of a criminal case against M. Galperin under Part 1 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activities). Later, the activist’s lawyer said that her client was in the status of a witness, not an accused.

As far as one can judge, the reason for initiating the case was an interview with Galperin, which was published on social networks by blogger and journalist of the Gradus-TV video project Olga Sapronova. Sapronova was also searched, during which electronic media were confiscated. After the search, she was taken away for interrogation.

As part of this case, searches were carried out at the homes of some other activists in Moscow and Reutov, but details were not provided.
