The government will simplify the entry into Russia for HIV-infected foreigners

The government is going to simplify the conditions for entering Russia for HIV-infected foreigners, Kommersant writes , with reference to the order of Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets. The government notes that the norm on deportation was adopted in 1995, since then the approaches to the treatment and counteracting the spread of HIV have changed a lot. The ban on the entry of its effectiveness did not prove.

Golodets entrusted the revision of the current rules of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rospotrebnadzor. Now HIV-infected citizens of other states can enter the Russian Federation only if they have close relatives among Russians.

It is noted that many migrants hide the diagnosis, fearing expulsions, and buy fake medical certificates for this. Many find a way to return even after deportation: change their last name or conclude a fictitious marriage with a citizen of the Russian Federation.

As noted in the government, the epidemiological situation in Russia is exacerbated by the fact that HIV-infected migrants often do not receive medical care, engage in self-medication or are not treated at all. Therefore, it is also proposed to change the conditions for the provision of medical care to foreign citizens, then the need for expulsion from the country will disappear by itself.
