A local ultra-radical was sentenced in Berdsk

In the Novosibirsk region, local ultranationalist Ivan Yepachintsev received a two-year suspended sentence for posting xenophobic social media audio recordings, videos and comments.

On April 10, 2017, in the city of Berdsk, Novosibirsk Region, a sentence was passed in a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (excitation national hatred) 23-year-old Ivan Yepanchintsev.

The young man was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on probation.

The defendant admitted his guilt. His case was considered in a special order.

According to investigators, from August 2015 to May 2016, Yepanchintsev posted xenophobic audio recordings and videos on his page on the VKontakte social network, and July to November 2016, published on the pages of other users some xenophobic comments. The materials were directed against blacks, Jews, Ukrainians, natives of the North Caucasus and Central Asia.

Epanchintsev had already been convicted before, but his conviction was cancelled.

The defendant pleaded guilty.

According to media reports, Yepanchintsev considers himself a nationalist. Nationalist paraphernalia (Kolovrat, imperial flag, slogans like “Glory to Rus'”, songs of ultra-right groups) are posted on his social network page. The young man took part in the "Russian March" in Novosibirsk.
