The head of the Ukrainian government Volodymyr Groysman said that if Kyiv loses a lawsuit in Stockholm arbitration, then Gazprom would have to be transferred instead of the money of the country's former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who signed a gas contract with Russia. Groysman announced this at a press conference, Interfax reports.
“If she signed, even if she is responsible, why should Ukrainian citizens pay for this? There is no other option, ”Groysman said.
In the end of the last year, the head of Naftogaz Andrei Kobolev stated that the amount that the Ukrainian state -owned company will have to pay Gazprom in case of loss in court will amount to $ 38 billion. Kobolev noted that this amount is “unbearable” for his company, but he counts on victory.
In November last year, the commercial director of Naftogaz, Yuri Vitrenko, said that in case of victory in the court of the Ukrainian company, Gazprom would have to pay for the transit of gas through Ukraine for $ 4 billion a year more. Later, Vitrenko allowed the bankruptcy of Naftogaz in the event of a loss in court.
