Former Sakhalin official accused of anti-Semitism
Approved indictment in the case of the former presidential envoy to Sakhalin Vitaly Guliy, author of the book "The Foot of the Russian Olympus", containing a chapter on the Jews in power. He accused of inciting national hatred.
On April 12, 2017, it became known that the prosecutor's office confirmed the charge against the former plenipotentiary of the President in Sakhalin region Vitaly Guliy. He is charged under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting hatred or enmity) for the publication of the book “The Foot of the Russian Olympus. strokes to the portrait of a modern official”, in which the examination saw signs of inciting hatred towards Jews.
The book contains a chapter entitled "Jews in Power", in which experts and found insulting remarks towards Jews, however, according to conclusions of the examination, it does not contain calls for any action towards members of this ethnic group.
The book was published in an edition of 500 copies, 50 of which the author presented to friends, and the remaining 400 were confiscated by the Algorithm publishing house.
Recall that V. Guliy was detained in January 2017 under flight to Chisinau. He does not admit his guilt.
The case materials are transferred to the Basmanny Court of Moscow.
