In Kazan, a court arrested two alleged Tahrir members in Sweden in absentia

In Kazan, the court arrested in absentia two immigrants from Tatarstan, living in Sweden. The investigation accuses them of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir and promoting the ideas of this organization.  

On May 26, 2017, it became known that the Vakhitovsky district Kazan court arrested 38-year-old Rustam in absentia Akhmedov and 36-year-old Ilnur Aminov, who were charged in absentia with Part 2 Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of an organization that, in in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation is recognized terrorist).

The investigation believes that both of them, living in Sweden, are in Hizb ut-Tahrir and "conduct militant Islamist propaganda, coupled with intolerance towards other religions, actively recruit supporters, purposefully work to cause a split in the society of the Russian Federation.

Natives of Tatarstan, I. Aminov and R. Akhmedov were previously convicted for involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, and R. Akhmedov, in addition, in 2014 he was involved in the case of motor races in Kazan with flags that organization. Both left Russia several years ago and are declared international search.

R. Akhmedov in social networks said that he was seeking political asylum in Sweden.

Recall that we believe that accusing members of Hizb ut-Tahrir of promoting terrorism only on the basis of party activities (holding meetings, reading literature, etc.) and prosecuting them under anti-terrorist articles is unlawful.
