Citizens receiving money from abroad can be equated to foreign agents

Citizens of Russia who receive money from other states can be equal to foreign agents. According to RBC, this is stated in the project of recommendations for parliamentary hearings on the topic "Prevention of interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation: legislation and law enforcement practice."

“To study the issue of making changes to the legislation regarding the addition of the list of foreign sources, to receive financing from which is a condition for recognizing a non -profit organization that performs the functions of a foreign agent, citizens of the Russian Federation receiving funds and other property from foreign states, their state bodies, international and foreign organizations, foreign citizens, stateless persons or persons authorized,” the document says.

The project also says that Western structures influence the Russian media: “There is an active implementation of foreign educational programs oriented to Russian journalists, the interaction and exchange of experience of representatives of American and European media with Russian journalists and editors of opposition online publications.”

According to senators, journalists are taught to use social networks and Internet services in order to have a psychological impact on public consciousness and “activate protest potential”.

The authors of the bill propose to deal with this issue to the Ministry of Justice, Rosfinmonitoring, the FSB and the General Prosecutor's Office.
