The court fined The New Times and returned the warning issued by Roskomnadzor

The New Times magazine was punished for the material "From Kaluga with Jihad".

On June 9, 2017, the judicial section of the Tver World Court fined The New Times magazine 100 thousand rubles under Part 6 of Art. 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (release of media products publicly justifying terrorism) for the publication of Pavel Nikulin's material "From Kaluga with Jihad." At the same time, the court returned to Roskomnadzor the warning issued to the publication in May for this material.

Roskomnadzor claimed that Nikulin's interview with a fighter of the Dzhebhat al-Nusra organization banned in Russia contained signs of justifying terrorism.

The material "From Kaluga with Jihad" did not contain inflammatory appeals, so we doubt the validity of the persecution of The New Times.
