
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a government meeting said that in response to the extension of the EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, he would invite Putin to extend retaliatory measures until December 31, 2018.
“In this situation, we, of course, will react adequately. Yesterday, we discussed this issue with the president. The government will make a proposal to extend the response measures for another year until December 31, 2018, ”Medvedev said.
At the same time, he emphasized that "the regime of mutual economic restrictions has no prospects."
On Wednesday, the EU Council finally approved the extension of sanctions against Russia for six months in connection with the non -fulfillment of the “Minsk agreements” by the Russian side.
Russia introduced the food embargo in 2014. The ban on imports applies to “individual types” of agricultural products, including meat, fish, dairy products, fruits and vegetables from Europe and the USA.
