Israel will increase the supply of drinking water to Palestine

Israel and Palestinian autonomy signed a drinking water agreement. According to Radio Liberty, this was stated by the envoy of the US President in the Middle East Jason Greenblatt. At the same time, he refused to answer the question of whether this will contribute to the renewal of peace negotiations between the parties interrupted in 2014.

Greenblatt said that an agreement was reached on an increase in annual supplies by the Israeli of drinking water to the Palestinians - from 20 to 30 million cubic meters.

The agreement was signed as part of the Water Project - a plan for the construction of a water conduit from the Red Sea to a dead length of about 200 kilometers and a desalination plant in the Jordanian port of Akaba.

The project is funded by the World Bank. Its main goals are an increase in the supply of drinking water to Jordan, Israel and Palestinian territories, as well as the prevention of drying out the Dead Sea.
