The Ambassador of Russia to the United States Sergey Kislyak, who, after the September regional elections, will most likely become a senator, will receive the post of deputy head of the Committee on International Affairs of Konstantin Kosachev, Interfax reports with reference to an informed source.

“Kislyak will be deputy Kosachev,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Earlier, the source said that the issue of the transition of the Russian ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak to work in the Federation Council is really considered, he can become a senator from one of the national republics after the September elections.

The fact that Kislyak, after returning from Washington, will receive a place in the Federation Council, Vedomosti was reported on July 18 with reference to sources close to the administration of the President of the Russian Federation.

As the Vedomosti specify, heads of 16 Russian regions participate in the regional elections. Some of them will have to call Kislyak to the election among their candidates for senators. From the qualification of the settledness provided for by law (the candidate must live in the region for five years before the appointment or a total of 20 years), Kislyak releases the rank of emergency and plenipotentiary ambassador.
