A brochure about the Prophet Muhammad is banned in Tyumen

The reason for the ban, as usual, was the "propaganda of superiority" of one religion over others.

On July 25, 2017, from the next update of the Federal List of Extremist Materials, we learned that on April 4, 2016, the Kalininsky District Court of Tyumen banned the book "Muhammad is the Greatest of All. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" by Abdurrahman bin Abdulkarim Ash-Shikhi (the book was published by the Office for Assistance in the call, guidance and enlightenment of ethnic minorities in the Rabwa district of Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 64 pp.).

According to the court decision, the brochure was seized in Tyumen during a search conducted on July 7, 2015 as part of a criminal investigation under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code, initiated in Pervouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region. The lawsuit to ban the book was filed by the assistant prosecutor of the Kalininsky district of Tyumen on behalf of the prosecutor of Pervouralsk.

The Court agreed that " the brochure contains information aimed at promoting the superiority and exclusivity of Islam over other religions, as well as information aimed at inciting hatred and enmity towards non-Muslims and Muslims who have deviated from the principles of strict monotheism " .

From our point of view, a book that describes the life, deeds and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, as well as the idea of ​​Muslims about his mission and the assessment of the role of Muhammad by well-known thinkers, does not contain any hateful statements. We are convinced that statements about the truth of one of the religions inherent in religious literature and criticism of other religious movements should not in themselves be considered as a sign of incitement to hatred. Recall that this is also stated in the Resolution of the Supreme Court No. 11 "On judicial practice in criminal cases on crimes of an extremist orientation" dated June 28, 2011.
