
The state prosecutor asked the Supreme Court of the Crimea to sentenced to eight years the colony of the Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatars Akhtem Chiygoz, accused of organizing riots at a rally on February 26, 2014 in Simferopol, Interfax reports.
Akhtem Chiygoz was detained at the end of January 2015 as part of an investigation into a criminal case on the organization and participation in the riots. According to the investigation, Chiygoz took part in the organization of the action on February 26, 2014 near the Verkhovna Rada building in Crimea.

The CIIGOZ case about the organization of riots (part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code) is allocated into separate production, the rest of the defendants in the case is charged in the riots (part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code). The Crimean Tatars are held in the case, who participated in a spontaneous rally along with supporters of the preservation of Crimea in Ukraine.
