Residents of Makhachkala oppose the construction of an Orthodox church near Lake Ak-Gel

Residents of Makhachkala sent an application to the Leninsky Court with a request to cancel the construction of an Orthodox cathedral near Lake Ak-Gel.

On August 16, 2017, it became known that residents of Makhachkala sent an application to the Leninsky court with a request to cancel the construction of an Orthodox cathedral in the city park, near Ak-Gel Lake.

In the text it is said that the construction of the cathedral in park " violates their right to favorable environment and unhindered access to a water body of general use ".

The defendants will be City Administration, City Assembly of Deputies, Makhachkala diocese and Department of architecture and urban planning of the city.

IN In early September, the Leninsky Court of Makhachkala began considering the claim. However the construction of the temple will not be suspended for the duration of the case, although this is exactly what the applicants hoped for.
