Perm: the third criminal case against Roman Yushkov was brought to court

In August 2017, a criminal case was initiated in Perm under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code and part 1 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code against journalist Roman Yushkov, suspected of posting a link to an anti-Semitic article on a social network. In June 2018, the case was referred to the court for consideration on the merits.

In early August 2017, a criminal case was initiated in Perm under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred) and part 1 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code (denial of the facts established by the verdict of the International Military Tribunal). The case was initiated against journalist Roman Yushkov in connection with the publication on his Facebook page of a link to the article "Jews! Return the money to the Germans for fraud with Holocaust six millions jews!" .

As the title suggests, this article questions the number of victims of the Holocaust. Roman Yushkov explained to Kommersant journalists that he had no intent to commit any crime. According to him, he wanted to stimulate scientific and public discussion of the historical question of the number of Jews exterminated by the Nazis during World War II.

In June 2018, the case was referred to the court for consideration on the merits. Later it became known that the case would be considered by a jury.

In March 2015, the court sentenced him to 1.5 years of suspended imprisonment and a ban on journalism for publishing the xenophobic article "Pugachev-style Hysteria." However, the journalist was immediately amnestied in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory. The article "Pugachev-style hysteria" was recognized as extremist .

In May 2017, the court sentenced him to a fine of 350,000 rubles for publishing the xenophobic post "Say your 'No' to a stranger". In July 2017, the Perm Regional Court reduced the amount of the fine to 200,000 rubles.

In October 2017, a case was initiated against him under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code in connection with the publication of an article on a social network called "Stop feeding strangers."
