Audio version of Vera Shengelia's report about people locked up in PNI
About 150 thousand people live in Russian psycho-neurological boarding schools (PNI). Some get there from orphanages; others are sent to the PNI, having been declared incompetent (this means that a person is deprived of almost all civil rights). A year ago, the government announced the reform of the PNI. Journalist Vera Shengelia, at the request of Meduza, wrote a report about how the reform works and how life works in such boarding schools.
