
The rector of the Russian State Humanitarian University (RSU) Evgeny Ivakhnenko was removed from the leadership of the university. This was announced by the source of "Lenta.ru" in the educational institution and confirmed the sources of "Medusa".
Alexander Bezoborodov, the first vice-rector for the RSUSU, director of the Historical and Archive Institute, will temporarily fulfill his duties.
Ivakhnenko at the end of May 2015 was replaced by Efima Pivovar, who held this position since 2006.
The rector’s elections in 2016 were accompanied by a public scandal. One of the applicants for this post, the director of the Institute of Philology and the History of the Russian State University, Pavel Kakarenkov, said that several members of the Scientific Council were called to the Ministry of Education and Science, where they were crushed, demanding to vote against one of the candidates. University teachers have published a letter demanding that the rector’s transparent elections.
In the election, Ivakhnenko scored 24 votes, Kaparenkov and the head of the strategic communications of Moscow State University Andrei Khazin - 21 votes each.
Immediately after the re -election Ivakhnenko, mass dismissals took place at the RSUSU. Then the departure statement was written by 21 employee of the institute. After that, a spontaneous rally of teachers and students took place near the walls of the university, demanding to stop dismissal.
