
The new governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region may be the first deputy minister of industry and trade Gleb Nikitin. This was reported by RBC with reference to five sources close to the Kremlin.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, Nikitin in the Kremlin is considered as the main candidate who will replace the current governor Valery Shantsev. “He (Nikitin) is a priority, many ask for him,” one of the sources said.
Earlier, RBC reported that the resignation of Shantsev will be held as part of the autumn rotation of the heads of regions. The publication wrote that up to ten governors could leave their posts.
