There are two episodes of extremism in the case - one was in Kazakhstan, that is, the Russian court could not consider it, and the second is based on the testimony of two witnesses, "whom he did not see in his eyes ." " The persecution was not connected with the criminal component, but in principle with his figure and the trend that was at that time in the country - all well-known moderate or not so nationalists were one way or another brought to criminal responsibility ," the lawyer said.

In August 2016, Belov was found guilty under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred), art. 280 UK (public calls for extremist activity), art. 282.1 (creation of an extremist community) and art. 174 (legalization proceeds of crime) and sentenced to 7.5 years general regime colonies. However, on April 14, 2017, the Moscow City Court reduced Belov's sentence to 3.5 years, overturning the sentence under Art. 174 and combining all the episodes on "extremist" articles into one.

The nationalist was detained on October 15, 2014 in the Moscow hotel "Intourist Kolomenskoye" in the case of embezzlement of five billion dollars from depositors of BTA Bank. In addition, Belov was accused of creating an extremist community in order to "destabilize the political situation in Kazakhstan and escalate the nationalist situation in the republic."
