The posts that promoted the interests of Russia saw 126 million American Facebook users, that is, about 40% of the country's population. According to the company, the “Internet research agency” is worth the development and promotion of this content. It promoted 120 pages on Facebook, from January 2015 to August 2017 about 80 thousand records were placed. A month before the election, the company blocked 5.8 million fake accounts on Facebook and 170 Instagram accounts, in which 120 thousand records were published.
Google in her investigation reported that channels were held at the YouTube video hosting company that are associated with Russia's intervention in the elections. The company counted only 17 such channels with 1108 videos with a total duration of 43 hours. From June 2015 to November 2016 they were viewed by 309 thousand people. Now all these channels are blocked.
According to Twitter, the “Internet research agency” created 2752 accounts on the social network, from which tweets were automatically published. From September 1, 2016 to November 15, 2016, messages from fake Russian accounts amounted to 0.74% (1.4 million) of the number of all elections related to the elections.
On October 30, a special commission for investigating Russian intervention in the election of the US President charged the first charges on this case. The only person involved was the ex-head of Trump's headquarters Paul Manafort. He was charged with 12 articles, including a conspiracy against the United States, money laundering, illegal lobbying for the interests of a foreign state. Accusations on seven articles are related to the refusal to provide reports on transactions with foreign banks. The court placed Manafort under house arrest.
