
The court placed the former head of the campaign headquarters Donald Trump Paul Manafort and his former business partner Rick Gates under house arrest, Bloomberg reports.
According to the agency, Manafort and Gates deny their guilt.
Meanwhile, CNN reports that the government appealed to the court with a request to appoint a bail of ten million dollars for Manafort and five million dollars for Gates.
Manafort was charged with 12 articles, including a conspiracy against the United States, money laundering, illegal lobbying for the interests of a foreign state. Accusations on seven articles are related to the refusal to provide reports on transactions with foreign banks.
Manafort was forced to resign from his post in August 2016. Earlier it became known that he advised the Ukrainian “Party of Regions” several years ago - during the years of Yanukovych's presidency. Manafort himself denied all the accusations. Now he is the central figure of the investigation of the special prosecutor Robert Müller about the ties of Trump's election campaign with Russia. Now people participating in the investigation are looking for financial relations of Manafort with Russians close to the Kremlin.
The relations of Deripaska and Manafort reported the Associated Press in March this year. As it became known to the agency, Manafort signed a contract with a Deripa -Cooperation in 2006. The annual payment under the contract amounted to $ 10 million. Manafort himself confirmed that he collaborated with Deripaska. According to him, this cooperation was legal.
Deripaska then called all the accusations false and sued the Associated Press, but Washington refused to consider this lawsuit.
