The Presidential Council for Human Rights (HRC) supported the idea of taking fingerprints from foreigners when entering Russia, said the head of the HRC, Mikhail Fedotov.
“Such measures are now being taken in a number of countries. Russia can also introduce such a measure for foreigners coming from those countries where such measures have been introduced for Russian citizens, that is, in a mirror form on a bilateral basis. Or it can be done on a non-discriminatory basis, that is, for any foreign citizen of any foreign state, ”he told Ekho Moskvy .
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed to make fingerprinting mandatory for all foreigners who come to Russia from visa-free countries for more than 30 days. Also, the migration service offered mandatory fingerprinting of children of migrants, starting from the age of twelve.
