
Mathematician Dmitry Bogatov, who is accused of calling for terrorism and organizing riots, can go into the status of a witness in the case. This was reported by TASS with reference to a source close to the course of the investigation.
According to the source, “Bogatov in the near future can change the status from the accused to the witness in connection with the results obtained during the [examination on] polygraph.”
Dmitry Bogatov is a teacher of mathematics and activist of free software. He was detained on April 6, and later arrested, on charges of publication on a specialized forum Sysadmins.ru calls for riots for “April 2 Promotions” in Moscow. His posts qualified as calls for terrorism.On July 24, Bogatov was transferred under house arrest. Bogatov’s defense sent a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights. The Human Rights Center "Memorial" recognized him as political prisoner.
