TOYS leader sentenced in Samara

In Samara, Evgeny Gavrilov, leader of the TOYS football fan group, was sentenced for creating an extremist community and public calls for extremist activity on social networks.

According to the materials of the case, from 2014 to 2016, Gavrilov " through persuasion and propaganda involved and united around him 12 ... people aged 18 to 30 who are fans of the football club ." The organization " was not registered, had names and an emblem," which, according to the examinations, has references to Nazi symbols and a subculture called "skinheads"" .

The leaders and members of the group committed extremist crimes and administrative offenses. Social media pages featured Nazi symbols and calls for extremist activity.

Gavrilov was previously convicted. According to media reports, from 2012 to 2016, he was tried for demonstrating Nazi symbols at the Metallurg stadium, for unsanctioned march of football fans around, and for causing serious injuries to a visitor of the institution where he once worked as a security guard.

The court sentenced Gavrilov to 6.5 years of probation with a probationary period of 4 years, as well as a long ban on attending mass events, including the 2018 World Cup.

We are talking about a group of right-wing radical football fans TOYS ("Toys"). In April 2017, the group was declared extremist . In Samara, there was a football company TOYS, but it existed much earlier than 2014. Probably the members of the new group are either successors, or imitators of a near-football company.
