Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed introducing monthly payments for the first child in the amount of an average of 10.5 thousand rubles, TASS reports on Tuesday, November 28 .
According to Putin, the government has long discussed measures to support families to increase the birth rate, and now "the time has come to announce them." Putin proposes to introduce the allowance from January 1, 2018. Money to the family will have to be paid at the birth of the first child until he reaches one and a half years.
The president also proposed introducing mortgage rate subsidies for families who have a second or third child after 2018. According to Putin, if a family takes out a mortgage at a rate of 10.5% per year, then the state will help with paying a share of more than 6%.
Now in Russia there is a maternity capital program, according to which families receive a subsidy at the birth of a second child. Earlier, Putin proposed extending the program until 2022.
