A Russian Su-30 fighter jet made an "unsafe" interception of an American P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft as it flew over the Black Sea, CNN reports , citing the Pentagon's press service.
"The American plane was operating in international airspace and did nothing to provoke the Russian side," Pentagon spokeswoman Michelle Baldanza told CNN.
The actions of the Russian fighter were called unsafe, as it crossed the course of a US Air Force aircraft from right to left, as a result, Poseidon fell into the afterburner of a Russian ship. The American plane was forced to veer off course. The interception lasted about 24 minutes.
Several months have passed since the last incident between the aircraft of the Russian Federation and the United States, reminds CNN. In June, a Russian Su-27 fighter jet flew within five feet of a US reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea.
