The Russian Ministry of Defense explained the incident with the US plane
The P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft was approaching the Russian border at high speed, so a Su-30 fighter took off to intercept, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“On November 25, Russian means of airspace control over the neutral waters of the Black Sea detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation at high speed. To intercept the target, a Su-30 fighter from the air defense forces of the Southern Military District was raised into the air, ” TASS quotes the press service of the Southern Military District.
The military emphasized that “after being detected by a Russian fighter, the American reconnaissance aircraft changed its trajectory to move away from Russian airspace.”
Earlier, the Pentagon announced the “unsafe” interception of an American aircraft by a Russian fighter. The United States noted that their plane, while in international airspace, did not commit provocative actions.
