The Sovetsky District Court of Orel arrested the chief imam of the Oryol region, Akhmadullo Isabaev, and his two sons for 2 months on charges of organizing illegal migration.

The Muslims were detained on December 6, after a search in their apartment was carried out by employees of the local ECC. They were accused under Part 2 of Art. 322.1 of the Criminal Code (organization illegal entry into the Russian Federation of foreign citizens or stateless persons, their illegal stay in the Russian Federation committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or by an organized group) in organizing an illegal registration of migrants from Uzbekistan.
The defendants' lawyers intend to appeal against this decision in the Oryol regional court. In their opinion, the initiated criminal case is a provocation. The Muslim community wrote an appeal to the court in support of the imam.
