The opera singer Alexander Vedernikov died

The opera and chamber singer, the former soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, Alexander Vedernikov, died at the age of 90. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the relatives of the singer.

“Yes, unfortunately, this news is correct. Alexander Filippovich died this afternoon, ”Vedernikov quoted the agency as saying.

Vedernikov was born on December 23, 1927 in the Kirov region, in the village of Mokinino. In 1955, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, after which he was a soloist of the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater named after Kirov (now the Mariinsky Theater).

After that, in 1958, Vedernikov became the soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, later, from 2006 to 2009, he worked in the theater as a vocal consultant. In 2008, he headed the Moscow Opera Theater.

In 1969 he received the USSR State Prize, in 1976 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR.
