An administrative case of discrimination was opened against the Primorye Hare Krishnas

In Vladivostok, the prosecutor's office considered discrimination a sign on the door of the Center for Societies for Krishna Consciousness, which forbids entry to non-Vaishnavism. An administrative case has been filed.  

On January 10, 2018, the prosecutor's office of the Pervomaisky district of Vladivostok opened a case under Art. 5.62 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (discrimination) in relation to the Center of Societies for Krishna Consciousness in Primorsky Krai. The reason for the case was an announcement hanging on the door of a religious organization.

Since the organization uses residential premises for worship, and missionary activities in residential premises are prohibited, it was decided to hang a sign at the entrance: “Entrance only for followers of the Vaishnavism creed, ISKCON.” The prosecutor's office considered this discrimination based on religion and beliefs, infringing on the interests of those who do not profess Vaishnavism, although in accordance with the law "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations", persons who do not share the dogma of a religious organization cannot be its members.

The case was submitted for consideration to the Magistrate's Court of judicial district No. 11 of the Pervomaisky district.

Recall that earlier Vladivostok Hare Krishnas were fined for violating the law on personal data, and the procession was dismissed without notifying the authorities for lack of corpus delicti.
