The case of court secretary Alexander Eyvazov was transferred to the prosecutor's office

The case of Alexander Eyvazov, a 22-year-old lawyer and former secretary of the Oktyabrsky Court of St. Petersburg, has been transferred to the prosecutor's office. It is reported by Interfax.

The formal reason for the criminal prosecution of Eyvazov was his refusal to sign the protocol of one of the criminal cases before dismissal. As Eyvazov himself later explained , he turned out to do this due to the fact that the protocol was drawn up by another employee.

At the same time, according to human rights activists, the real reason for the persecution of the lawyer was more than 80 complaints sent by him to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office about numerous violations of Russian law by employees of the Oktyabrsky Court, opened by Eyvazov.

A 22-year-old graduate of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation (RANEPA), Alexander Eyvazov got a job at the Oktyabrsky District Court of the year as a secretary to Judge Irina Kerro in the fall of 2016. Two months later, the man quit of his own free will, having come into conflict with the direct management due to overtime, which he did not want to pay.

On August 24, 2017, Eyvazov was arrested. He was charged with obstruction of justice (Part 3, Article 294 of the Criminal Code). On January 15, 2018, the accusation of slander against the former leadership was added to them (part 1 of article 298.1 of the Criminal Code).

On February 14, 2018, it became known that Eyvazov’s lawyers found in his case file an empty protocol form signed by the victim and the lawyer’s former boss, Judge Irina Kerro. According to the lawyer, this fact may indicate a possible falsification of the case materials.

On February 19, the court extended the arrest of Eyvazov, who by that time had already been in jail for six months, despite the fact that only those accused of a serious or especially serious crime can extend the preventive measure for more than six months at the preliminary investigation stage. (Eyvazov is accused of crimes of small and medium gravity).

The transfer of the case to the prosecutor's office means the completion of the stage of preliminary investigation and precedes the transfer of the case to the court. Earlier, the Memorial Human Rights Center recognized Eyvazov as a political prisoner, and Amnesty International as a prisoner of conscience.
