Sortavala: Fine for promoting Nazi symbols on the social network VKontakte

In Karelia, a resident of Sortavala was fined for promoting Nazi symbols on the Vkontakte social network.

On April 4, 2018, the decision of Sortavalsky came into force City Court of the Republic of Karelia. The court recognized the 31-year-old resident  Sortavaly guilty of an offense under Part 1 of Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (propaganda or public displaying Nazi paraphernalia or symbols). The local resident was fined 1,000 rubles.

The border department of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Kazakhstan found that the young man on his page on the VKontakte social network posted in the public domain videos and audio recordings promoting Nazi paraphernalia or symbols, as well as other materials included in the federal list of extremist materials.

The court took into account the voluntary cessation of unlawful conduct. The offender independently removed extremist content.
