Scientists demanded that Medvedev suppress the harmful activities of Roskomnadzor

The Council of the Society of Scientists turned to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev with a complaint about mass interruptions in the work of scientific and educational Internet resources, search engines and e-mail servers that arose due to Roskomnadzor attempts to block Telegram. The application is published on the website of the Trinity Option.

The ONR Council requires "immediately suppress the harmful activities of Roskomnadzor."

“The Council of the Interregional Society of Scientists expresses indignation in mass interruptions in the work of many scientific and educational Internet resources, search engines and email servers arising due to Roskomnadzor attempts to block Telegram messenger. This department created obstacles to access to almost 18 million IP addresses: their number is almost twice the number of Telegram users in Russia, ”the statement said.

Scientists note that due to the unprofessional actions of Roskomnadzor, Russian scientists were deprived of access to the specialized network of scientific contacts Researchgate, the archives of the scientific journals of the largest publishing house Wiley, the central repository of the Java libraries, the site of the SCIENCE magazine, and the search engine of Google and for a number of other network services constantly used in research work.

“Interruptions in access to the Kias information system have led to a disruption of applications for grant competitions conducted by the Russian Fund for fundamental research. Due to the violation of access to the training sites, the educational process was partially paralyzed in Skoltekh, Moscow State University, HSE and a number of other universities. The website of the free network community “Dissernet”, which exposed the large -scale incorrect borrowing of other people's materials in the dissertations of many unscrupulous authors, including the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov, ”the statement said.

The Council recalls that according to Art. 29 of the Constitution of Russia, everyone has the right to freely search, receive, transmit, produce and disseminate information in any legal way.
