The profile committee of the State Duma recommended rejecting the “anti-Nazi” package of bills of 2014

The bill on combating the rehabilitation of Nazism, which has been under consideration by the Duma since 2014, will be rejected.

On May 10, 2018, the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption recommended rejecting in the first reading a package of bills on counteracting the rehabilitation of Nazism, submitted to the lower house by a group of senators in 2014.

The package consisted of two bills. The first one referred to extremist activities as " the rehabilitation of Nazism, the glorification of Nazi criminals and their accomplices ", and the second was a framework document on the fight against the rehabilitation of Nazism, which provided, in particular, for ensuring the work of state and public "anti-Nazi expertise".

The bill preceding this package, introduced to the State Duma by Senator Boris Shpigel in 2013 and criticized by the government, was rejected by the State Duma on April 12, 2018 on the recommendation of the Committee on CIS Affairs.
